Very friendly users?

I'm just wondering if I can find out a little more about the type of people who play XD

I've only spoken on the chat once now (after being lured out of lurkingness by Zerza)... and that managed to help spawn an odd user who is asking for my email (not... stalkerishly, he's friendly but I'm not used to that XD). Is this commonplace in Kongregate? Because I wouldn't know.

Also feel free to discuss the userbase, community and friendliness of people on Kongregate in general.

Re: Very friendly users?

No one has ever found ME personally approachable enough to ask for my e-mail.  Whether that is good or bad I don't know....but I can tell you and anyone else reading this what I DO know about the Kongregate "community."There are two types of chatroom: chat and game chat.  First off: Room chat.

There are nice and helpful users, certainly.  Many of them seem happy to provide any sort altruism they can provide, from tips and tricks to strategies to even the occasional intelligent conversation.  These seem to be bored office workers and computer programmers than anything else from what I can tell.  The majority of all users are spammers or CAPS-LOCK abusers.  I doubt this behavior is intentionally meant to be irritating as they are probably children or in their early to mid teens and don't know how to use a chatroom, but that's really not an excuse--it's still incredibly annoying, and I quite frankly cannot tolerate it!  You may also find people ''giving away'' runescape gold, orasking you to ''type 123 for runescape/club penguin/neopets'' and so on and so forth.  A smaller group (but still larger than the nice helpful group) are small-minded and offensive, either using sexist, racist, or homophobic language, or making sexist, racist, or (usually) homophobic "jokes."  There doesn't seem to be anyone monitoring this (I'm not even aware if there are admins) so you have to use your best judgement when to respond.   Your best bet in either case is find a room (preferably not crowded) and see if the userbase there is mature or not, since it seems that people don't really drift from room to room very much. Luckily, many rooms often have dead silence in them so you don't have to put up with any of this.

Game chat is usually much more helpful and the people are more approachable.  You can only find game chat in multiplayer game rooms. The one drawback is people constantly begging you to either play their user-created level, join them in a match, or let them win at something so that they can win a badge of some kind.

My chatroom experience has not been wholly negative, however! The chatroom format is very nice, your friends (in my case only rowena =[) have a star next to their names and all the users are listed alphabetically.  You can also mute anyone in the room if need be.
Hope I could help, and I also hope that I didn't scare you away from Kongregate :-/
